“Pen Pal Book 3” is the last in the three-level series whose aim is to improve Writing, Speaking and Listening skills for students in A, B and C class.
This book is designed to be used in conjunction with students’ coursebooks. Each unit can be covered in three half-hour sessions, making a total of approximately 14 teaching hours.
The units are graded in difficulty, although students will meet only those structures familiar to them from their coursebooks. The topics in each unit have been chosen with this grammar in mind to enable students to write and talk about themes familiar to them. Speaking and Listening tasks are included to consolidate theme vocabulary.
“Pen Pal Book 3” is divided into nine units, each consisting of:
-an introductory model composition, followed by a fill-in composition.
Appropriate topic vocabulary and expressions are included.
-the Speaking page, which practises and extends vocabulary already given. This is in four parts – Personal Questions, Questions and Answers (match), a Dialogue and Asking Questions.
-preparation for Writing in three parts:
Building up a Composition, in which common mistakes are illustrated and then practised in a short composition or letter; Sentence Building – practice in building up sentences to form a short paragraph.
Guided Writing, in which students write a composition by responding to questions and prompts.
Writing Task, where students write their own composition, following a simple plan.
-Listening – three listening exercises in a variety designed to familiarise students with those they will meet in State and other EFL exams. These exercises include MCQ, Fill-In, True/False, Match, etc.
At the back of the book is a glossary of all new vocabulary and expressions presented. (From the publisher)
